Making an Impact at Sinara: Perspectives from Women in Leadership

Leadership at Sinara comes in many forms. From setting technical direction and keeping critical systems running, to delivering software that support clients’ trading needs, it underpins how our business operates every day.  This year, to mark International Women’s Day, we are highlighting three female leaders at Sinara who are playing a central role in all these areas—shaping how we build, operate, deliver and maintain our trading technology.

Building Software That Lasts: Nicole Williams, Head of Software Development

To make sure our systems are designed from the outset to evolve alongside clients’ businesses, we place a premium on quality, maintainability and thoughtful design. Nicole Williams (joined Sinara 2014) leads our development teams to turn this vision into reality and create solutions that are robust, maintainable, and fit for purpose. She reflects on what this kind of sustainable software means in practice:

“Writing code is the most visible part of software development, but to make truly high-quality systems, it’s really important to consider the design carefully before you start, and to write clear, well-documented code. The initial development of our software is just a small piece of its overall lifespan, so we always aim to build something that will be easy to come back to, to make fixes or add new features.”

A key part of her role is also making sure we are developing people, not just code.

“Software development is an ever-evolving field, so we have to make sure our developers are evolving with it. Whether it’s new technologies or new ways of working, our teams are always learning and adapting.”

Under her leadership, software development at Sinara is about craftsmanship and learning, feeding into creating great software.

Driving Projects That Deliver Real Outcomes: Sarah Maris, Head of Project Delivery

Successful software project delivery requires far more than just managing timelines and milestones. It requires building trust, keeping teams responsive and adaptable, and ensuring that many complex (sometimes contradictory) requirements are translated into solutions that actually work in practice, often under multiple pressures.

As Head of Project Delivery, Sarah Maris (joined Sinara 1997) leads teams responsible for working closely with clients to ensure Sinara projects are delivered with precision and a strong focus on outcomes. Sarah explains her approach to delivery:

“At Sinara, we engage with the client throughout the project lifecycle, working in partnership with them to ensure their requirements are met with appropriate solutions. We work closely with the client to formulate realistic plans that are achievable for all. We find this honest and pragmatic approach breeds trust and a closer feeling of collaboration with the client”.

This client-centred way of working ensures that Sinara stays focused on long-term value rather than short-term outputs.

Keeping the Engine Running: Patricia Moneo Rodrigo, Head of TechOps

Behind every reliable Sinara trading platform is a team ensuring systems are secure, resilient and performing exactly as they should, day and night. Patricia Moneo Rodrigo (joined Sinara 2018) oversees the operational backbone of Sinara-deployed applications, managing teams responsible for supporting live trading environments, while also working directly with clients to diagnose and resolve issues.

Patricia makes sure insights gained from supporting clients across multiple time zones are properly fed back into development and delivery cycles, allowing her team to contribute to improving systems over time, reducing future risks.

“With a clear plan and the courage to act, almost anything is possible—because when something breaks, we take ownership, find the root cause, fix it properly, and make sure it doesn’t happen again.”
